The 24th edition of the annual Steel Symposium, organized each year by the Iron and Steel Society of Iran, was held from November 1 to 3, 2022 at the Kish International Exhibition Center. The annual Steel Symposia, generally held with the support of steel companies and universities across the country, aim to provide a suitable platform for establishing communication between stakeholders in the country’s steel industry and university professors, graduate students, and researchers, facilitating the exchange of views to address existing challenges and further develop the industry through consultation and familiarization with the latest research, technological, and equipment-related achievements in the country’s steel industry.

Each year, this symposium brings together the majority of stakeholders in the steel sector, from the highest-ranking government executive officials to the country’s largest steel producers, companies associated with the steel industry, upstream and downstream industries, companies manufacturing equipment for the steel value chain, and specialists. They discuss and exchange views on the latest research and production achievements, existing obstacles and challenges, ways of interacting with one another, and solutions for advancing the objectives of this industry. The exhibition also showcases the latest research and industrial achievements in software and hardware, steel products, and steelmaking equipment.

Topics of the 24th Steel Symposium

  1. The future of the steel industry, its challenges and opportunities, and the outlook for the steel market in the post-COVID era
  2. Challenges in supplying raw materials, equipment, and technical know-how to the steel industry in the post-COVID era
