The manufacturing and successful testing of a large Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) transformer for steelmaking have been successfully completed at Aria Furnace Transformer Company.

This transformer, which will be installed at the steelmaking site of Bafgh Steel Complex, has a capacity of 176 MVA and a voltage rating of 33,000/1,350–800 V, and is equipped with an OFWF cooling system. This transformer was manufactured and tested in the country for the first time through the proper transfer of technical know-how from Europe, including comprehensive training on all aspects of design, manufacturing, and testing, as well as supervision of the manufacturing process by the technology owner, at Aria Transfo Industrial Group.

Given that almost all furnace transformers used in Iran’s steel industry have been manufactured using Italian technology, the commonality of the underlying technology, the use of similar materials and equipment, and the ability to replace existing transformers without risk are key strengths of this joint collaboration.
